How this site makes money

Some of the links here pay us and most of them do not. This page says which is which, and states the one rule that decides whether anything on this site is worth trusting.

The rule

Paid placement never moves an organic ranking.

Money buys a slot that is labelled as paid. It does not buy a position in a chart, a higher score, a better verdict, or the removal of a competitor. The moment money can shift a ranking, the rankings stop being worth citing, and the rankings are the only reason anyone would come here. This is not a promise about our character. It is the business model: we have more to lose by selling a rank than we could ever earn from it.

Which links pay

A minority of the tools listed here run affiliate programmes. Where one does, and where we have been accepted onto it, following that link and then subscribing may pay us a commission. It never costs you more, and it is never a condition of being listed. Most entries on this site, including every open source tool, pay nothing and never will. They are here because they are the right answer to somebody’s question.

Redirect links

Outbound links pass through a redirect on this domain so we can count which entries and which posts actually send people anywhere. Counting a click is not the same as earning from it: the great majority of these links carry no commercial relationship at all. What the redirect records is described in full in the privacy notice.

What we will not do

We do not accept payment to remove or downgrade an entry. We do not write a review in exchange for a fee. We do not publish a price, a limit or a feature we have not seen on the vendor’s own site, and where we have not been able to verify something the entry says so rather than guessing. An unverified record is an honest state. An invented one is not.

If we get it wrong

Prices change and features get withdrawn. If something here is out of date or wrong, tell us at hello@plxyro.com and it will be corrected and dated. Corrections are logged publicly on the change log rather than edited away quietly.
